This past week, the Department of Energy rolled back the low-flow restriction on showerheads and created a new classification for energy-efficient, quick-cycle washers and dryers.
President Trump has said that the low-flow regulations have caused people to use more water, not less. “Showerheads — you take a shower, the water doesn’t come out… You want to wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer?” said the president in July. He has also spoken of the excess flushing required for low-flow toilets.
Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette stated, “With these rule changes, Americans can choose products that are best suited to meet their individual needs and the needs of their families.”
